NAGYKANIZSA
OPPORTUNITY INNOVATION GROWTH
IN A TOWN WITH CIVIC ATMOSPHERE
Nagykanizsa is a former oil mining, merchant and industrial center in the direct vicinity of the Croatian and Slovenian borders, located in an important junction of roads and railways. It is only 150-200 kilometers far from the capital cities of Austria, Croatia, Slovakia, and Slovenia, just a few hours driving of the harbors of Koper (SLO), Rijeka (CRO) and Trieste (ITA), on the half way between Budapest and Zagreb, the Hungarian and the Croatian capitals.
The development of the city was determined by the commercial and industrial culture: beyond the water treatment, the machine engineering, the wood- and furniture industry, the oil- and chemical industrial tradition, it was established by the former decade when plenty of new developments was set up.
Although the economy of Nagykanizsa is kept in motion by the two connected industrial parks, the complete northern one, and the 80+90 hectares eastern one, whose have direct access to the M7 (E71) Highway, the future developments’ new direction was marked by the potential of the good logistical capabilities and commercial and industrial culture, whose outline the form of two more industrial parks around the city.
More dynamic developments were substantiated by the scheduled logistical developments: the planning was began for expanding the Route 74 to four lanes which connects Nagykanizsa with on the north Győr and Vienna (AT). The planned new bridge on the Mura river can open possibilities to the southern, Croatian cooperation. And also planned the electrification of the northern railway which expands the possibilities of the public and cargo transport. The southern bypass road’s drawing up is in progress, which marks the location of the southern industrial park, what could be completed by a scientific industrial park based on the circular economy on the western part of the city.
So, it’s worthy to visit and invest here in one of the greenest city of the country, Nagykanizsa!

THE ADVANTAGE
IS FOR NAGYKANIZSA
Our town’s advantage over its competitors is inherent in its favourable geographical location. The region of Nagykanizsa can be approached via three highways. The first is Main Road 7 from east to west connecting Budapest and Croatia as well as Motorway M7 that runs in parallel with it. From north to south Main Road 74 towards Zalaegerszeg and Main Road 61 towards Kaposvár intersect here. As for Nagykanizsa in the European context it is important to note that three country borders are situated near the town and five European capital cities (Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava, Zagreb and Ljubljana) can be found within a distance of 200 km. From logistics and economic point of view the proximity of the European V and V/B transport corridors is a great advantage that connects the town to the circulation of the continent.
